Timeout, Port or Socket Error

Timeout, Port or Socket Error

If you tried to send us an email and there was a ‘socket’ error, this most likely due to a security layer in your Windows settings that’s not allowing the email to happen.

When you see that message, click the ‘Info/Problems’ button at the bottom. It suggests another port; try 587 (instead of the suggested 26).

If you are still getting an error it maybe that the usual default ports are blocked on your PC.

Do you have IT support who can tell you what ports are enabled for this kind of email?

If not you turn down (or off) any firewall and try again. Remember to restore the settings after you try this!
